I wore SO MUCH blush in the Summer/Fall (see this post here) and had no problem carrying the trend (obsession) into the Winter. To tone down the airy feel of the color, I paired it with grey hues to give the look a darker, more wintery vibe. These amazing Moto grey jeans are super stretchy with a raw hem. You can use the code ‘LAURENEM’ for 15% off your purchase at the entire Takes Two To Trend store (but I highly suggest grabbing a pair of these for the winter! Plus they would make such a cute Christmas present!). I’m trying to expand my denim collection and having a solid pair of grey jeans was a much needed staple in my collection.
This blush sweater has bell sleeves which were really on trend this year. It is also a slightly thinner sweater so it is perfect for layering! Plus this sweater is 40% off right now-making it under $40!! Such a steal since it comes in 5 different colors.
Finally lets talk about my favorite part of this outfit–> my beanie!! It sold out so quickly on the ASOS website, but I linked some super similar styles that were still available (all under $20!). I was a little hesitant to purchase a beanie with ears, but this hat was just too cute to pass up!
Dave & I are headed back to Chicago this weekend. We are going to try to see some snow (TN has yet to have a flake fall out of the sky) and get into the Christmas spirit by seeing the lights downtown. We are also celebrating Christmas with some of my family so it will be a festive and fun weekend! Happy Friday!
What are your weekend plans? Do you love blush + grey together?
I apologize in advance for the lack of professional photos but I had to share this formal dress with you! Dave and I went to an Army Ball last week and I’ll admit I procrastinated on finding an appropriate dress. Unable to run to the mall with only a few days before the ball, I scoured the internet for a formal dress that would fit. As someone who ALWAYS needs alterations to any dress I buy, ordering a dress online without trying it on first (especially a formal dress) made me extremely anxious.
I read a bunch of reviews and finally settled on two formal dresses off of…Amazon! Can you believe it? Maybe I’m just naive to the expanse selection from Amazon, but they actually had quiet a few dresses to pick from-some even the same designer (and same dress!) that I had looked at on the Nordstrom website. I picked this dress because the reviews were mostly positive and it looked really pretty. I also ordered this dress (Under $60!), just in case the one I wore did not fit. Both were extremely pretty on, but this one was a little too snug.
The best part about this dress? It was under $80! It has a corset back so it allowed some room to make it bigger or smaller, especially if you are between sizes. I wish I had better pictures, but it really was figure flattering! Since the ball was in December, I ordered this silver shawl (for under $15!) to go with. I did not get a great picture with the shawl, but it is best seen in this picture below. It literally arrived an hour before Dave & I had to leave for the Ball. Thank you Amazon prime!
The dress would be perfect for an holiday party you have to go to this year and even a wedding! The sweetheart neckline and neutral color make it super versatile! With Amazon Prime, this dress showed up in 2 days with free shipping-so it’s perfect for a last minute function!
Thanks for stopping by!

Blazers tend to be thrown into the ‘work attire’ category but they are a really great staple piece in your closet! Not only are they appropriate for your 9-5, they can be styled for many other functions of your life. I love wearing blazers with a solid pair of denim and a classy heel. (These perfect black pumps are under $40!) It makes the blazer a bit more casual and versatile. I love a good blazer for happy hour or date night. Plus they come in a whole host of colors and styles. Add in some statement jewelry or a great bag, and you have a casual (but sophisticated!) look.
It’s been awhile since I shared a fashion post. I’ve been trying to get out of jeans a little more lately and expand my skirt/dress wardrobe. It can be more difficult with the colder temperatures so today I’m sharing a style you can wear during the winter months! I paired a navy A-line skirt with a navy stripped top. To make it more winter appropriate, I added some over the knee boots (these are under $100!).
With Christmas just a few weeks away (21 days & counting!), life is getting busier and a bit more stressful. I have yet to start my Christmas shopping (ahh!) which just adds to the tension! Here are three ways I’m reducing stress around the holidays.
1. Christmas Cookie Philosophy Bubble Bath
I always pick up a few bottles of Philosophy’s Bubble Bath around the holidays. They come out with some amazing scents during the holidays, including this one that smells like a Christmas cookie & it is heaven! So relaxing and makes your mouth water. These are also great stocking stuffers or smaller gifts for friends because most of them are under $20!
2. Amazon Prime for Shopping
This is probably the best $99 I ever spend during the year. Free Two Day Shipping, free returns and it makes shopping for everyone on your list SO easy. Amazon literally has everything (as if you didn’t already know). I just recently bought this light grey dress for the Army Ball Dave and I are attending this week. Yes, I bought a formal dress off Amazon, for under $80, and it fit just like the reviews said it would! Buy all your gifts without having to leave your couch and you don’t have to deal with the holiday mall crowds. Such a stress-reliever!
3. Keep Up With Exercise Routine
‘Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy!’ Name that movie! Any Legally Blonde fans? Exercise does make you happy & it relieves stress! Plus it’s also really helpful to keep up with your workouts during this time of the year, as we tend to eat more calories then normal (hello holiday parties and Christmas cookies!). I’m sticking to my exercise routine that I talk about in this post here.
Thanks for checking in! Feel free to comment any ideas on how to reduce stress during the holidays!

The Perfect Thanksgiving dress. You guys! This Dress!! I’m obsessed! It’s literally one of the best purchases I made this year because it is under $30 and perfect for Thanksgiving, holiday parties or any special occasion this Winter! It is super lightweight, but gives more then average coverage with the long sleeves. Plus the color is just so rich! It is very flattering on all figures-especially us girls with a little bit of curve!
Dave and I are headed back to Chicago for Thanksgiving and the weekend. It will be so good to see the family and enjoy some much needed relaxation time away from work. Thanksgiving morning Dave and I signed up for a Turkey Trot to get the blood flowing before we sit down to a big meal! I’ve done a few runs on Thanksgiving but am looking to make it an official holiday tradition for us as a couple. What are some of your favorite Thanksgiving traditions?
P.S I’ve been sharing some Holiday Gift Guides and will be continuing to give you some gift inspiration in the weeks to come before Christmas!
This maroon sweater and OTK (over the knee) boots was one of my favorite looks I’ve styled over the last few weeks. I shared it awhile ago on Instagram and finally am putting it on the blog with all the details! Over The Knee boots was one of the ‘Fall trends’ I had to have this year. I searched for a long time to find an affordable, yet quality pair that would last me many seasons to come. I found these Treasure & Bond OTK boots for under $100 and they are dupe for these Stuart Weitzman boots. These Over The Knee boots are form fitting-so I definitely recommend skinny jeans or bare legs (paired with a skirt or dress!). Otherwise, they are super comfortable and come in a few different colors.
I’m really loving the deep, rich colors that are ‘in’ right now. Burnt orange, mustard yellow and this gorgeous deep maroon. Makes me think of warm winter nights, with hot soup, toasty bread and a fire going. Maybe that’s just me? haha. Anyways, This maroon sweater is lightweight but cozy. It is feminine with the bell sleeves and has a touch of flare-the ribbing. It’s under $40 and comes in three different colors. It comes a little higher on the neck, not fully making it a turtle neck (you can see how I feel about those here).
Another full week ahead-Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I’m getting ready to decorate for the Holidays. Dave and I will be headed back to Chicago to see the family and my Mom is putting on a huge Thanksgiving spread. I’m also really looking forward to this week because I’ve switched from night to day shift at work (I’m an ER nurse). Anyone who works night shift knows how much this can affect your sleep, mood, and quality of life outside of work. I’m so ready to be awake when the rest of the world is! (and not writing blog posts at 3am all the time!). Happy Monday
If you’ve been following the blog for a bit, you know I’m obsessed with off the shoulder (OTS) tops! They were a staple piece for me this summer and I’m so glad I found one that can carry me into the Fall. This OTS top from Dressings Boutique is dreamy! With ruffles and a cute print, this top is super feminine and chic. Since it has long sleeves-it is perfect for a Fall date night or Sunday brunch with friends! The quality of the fabric is apparent the minute you put it on. It is also light and breezy enough for a cooler summer night. Either way, this OTS top can carry you through more than one season-make it versatile and the perfect addition to your wardrobe!
While perusing Dressing Boutiques site, this sweater and these adorable booties also caught my eye! They have some really adorable pieces for Fall at a great price point! This OTS top I’m wearing is only $35, making it a steal! I’ve been making it my mission to buy more budget friendly options and Dressings Boutique is right in my price range!
Finding cute pieces like this OTS top make me so excited for the holidays to come! Fall date nights, weekend coffee dates with my girlfriends and happy hours with the fiancé are just a few events I know I’ll be styling this top for.
