Hey friends! This little blog is now almost three months old and it has been such a great experience. I have learned so much, made some really amazing blogger friends, and finally found a little space of the internet that I can use as a creative outlet. Since I have a bunch of new readers, I thought I would share a little more about myself and the girl behind the blog!
Why did you start a blog?
I had read fashion blogs for almost a year before I decided to commit to making my own. I loved the idea of showcasing different looks, especially when I can find quality pieces for a great price.
What are your favorite hair products?
I have extensions so I have to be really careful about the products I use in my hair. I try to use products that are sulfate free and I don’t wash my hair every day. Right now I love the OUAI products. Their dry shampoo doesn’t leave a white residue in your hair which is great for someone with darker hair like mine. I also use the Shuga Leave In Conditioner-It’s a spray that is not heavy and smells heavenly!
Favorite Skincare hack/tip?
Moisturizer is your best friend! I spent a good chunk of puberty at the Dermatologist office dealing with horrific cystic acne. Two rounds of Accutane and many months of topical creams, I’ve learned the importance of moisturizer for your skin. Find one with SPF and that works for your skin type and use it religiously! I have tried many different brands and can recommend a few. My skin went from very oily to very dry and now I’m a combination with a little more dryness so I have used all different types of moisturizers.
For dry skin, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense is really amazing! The Olay Regenerist Luminous is another really great one that I still use. I also really want to try to La Mer Moisturizing Cream.
What type of foundation you use?
I have a couple foundations that I keep in stock depending what type of coverage/look I’m going for. My go-to foundation is the MAC Matchmaster. It has great coverage without being too thick or heavy on the skin. When I want to look like I’m not wearing makeup but still have some coverage I use the MAC Studio Fix. Finally, I love Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation for full coverage!
What is your skincare routine?
I take all my makeup off with the Neutrogena Face Wipes. I use a light cleanser like the Simple Moisturizing Facial Cleanser and the Simple Smoothing Facial Scrub. I like to use the scrub a few days a week to exfoliate. Next add moisturizer (see questions above). I try to use a moisturizing face mask once a week. Finally, I’m in the market for a new eye cream (leave suggestions in the comments below!)-these dark circles are getting scary!! 🙂
My skin is also very sensitive to what I eat and how much sleep I get. Night shift has been an adjustment for my skin- I have to drink a lot more water and make sure to get enough zzzs. Eating less sugar and not touching my face also helps keep my skin clear.
What are your must have beauty products?
Mascara- Too Faced Better Than Sex
Contour- Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit
MAC Brow Definer – I always have to have my brows done!
What is your best hair tip?
Use good products (leave-in conditioner & dry shampoo are my best friends!), don’t wash everyday and find a good curling wand (I use the NuMe Curling Wand).
What is your favorite TV show?
I have a few! I don’t get to watch TV often so I mostly see what I can on Netflix. Gilmore Girls, House of Cards, Family Guy, Orange is the New Black and Bloodline!
I hope this helps! I received so many beauty questions, I’m thinking about making that a more regular part of the blog! Feel free to comment below letting me know if you would like to see more beauty posts or another Q&A!
Thanks for checking in! xo
